I'm going to tell you about my writing goal, it is to: have more correct spelling.
I am going to achieve this by:
underlining the words that don't look right.
I am going to check words that are underlined in the dictionary.
I'll know that I have achieved it when:
most of my writing is correct.
Trips
Witakeres Rianforest! Now I am going to tell you about a trip that all the year fives"s went on.
All the year fives"s went on a trip to the Witakeres (which is a rain forest.) First we hopped on the bus which was so crowded and it took about 1 hour to get there! When we arrived we split into half, one half went on a mini train that was only about 1 and a half meters tall and the other went on bush walk. I went on the train first, we went through 9 tunnels and geuss what one of them had glow worms in them!!!!!!! Some tunnels were pitch black, one had huge bugs, some were big and some were tiny. We saw lots of different trees, out of the train we climbed up a almost vertical dam and someone spat on a work mans helmet (YUCK!) There was even a dead bird in the water. We stoped and had lunch, after that we started to do our bush walk and we saw about three small waterfalls! I think it was the best trip ever and I learnt that a plant called Tutu is poisonous.
I am going to tell you about the year five EOTC week, EOTC stands for education outside the class. Marae!
The year five's went on a trip to the Orakei Marae, learnt alot about there culture and before the one who lived ontop of one tree hill would rule all of Auckland. The girls lernt a poi dance and the boys learnt the haka then we performed to each other. there was a school at the marae of only 12 kids! I had a fantastic time and learnt lots about the the maori tribs. The people at the marae prayed before new people came in. They believe that it washes out all the bad spirits. Tree Adventures!
The next day on EOTC we went to Tree Adventures which is at Woodhill. If you do not know what Tree Adventures is then I will tell you, it is a whole lot of trees with tunnels, bridges, flying foxes and lots of other awesome things. There are heaps of corses but we could only go on four of them. You have to be a certain hight to go on them, I could go on all the ones that we were aloud to go one. There was a flying fox at the end of each one. A few people had to get rescued and an instructor had to come up and get them down by a rope. I think it was the best EOTC trip. Orienteering!
The next day we went to Waitarua Reserve to do orienteering. The way to do orienteering is, you either have a sheet of paper and a compass or a map (in real orienteering you use a compass, but we used a map.) Then you have places marked on your map and you have to find them. So you use your map/compass to find it. We did it, when you find it there will be a clicker and you get your piece of paper and click it. When you have got them all, you get someone to mark it. Wave Pools!
The last day on EOTC we went to the wave pools! The waves at the wave pools only came once every half an hour and they were really high! There was a hydro-slide and it was pitch black at one point and there was also some bucket on a pole that would fill up with water and fall on you (SPLASH!) There were other thing there like a hot pool and a lazy river. If you do not know what a lazy river is it is water that would push you around. The only thing I did not like about is that we had to stay with our group and some people didn't get to be with any of there friends. But other wise it was really fun.
I had lots of fun at EOTC and I never new year five would be this fun: ) !

plus homework! :-( 2MH! LOL! (two much homework and laughing out loud)
For home work this week we have to find 5 different masks that represents a god from the myth Rangi and Papa.
Here is a water mask.
This is a mask that represents water and I really like it because it stands out of the sequinse.
Here is a forest mask.
I like this mask because it looks like it has real leaves on it.
Here is a wind mask.
I like this mask because it looks like it is going to blow out air and that is what wind is.
Here is a fire mask.
I like this mask because of the materials and detail used.
Here is a earth mask.
I like this mask because it looks like it has roots on it.
At school we made some of our own masks and this is some more info:
My mask is supposed to be a Papa (earth mother) mask like the one above (but not exactly the same). I made my mask by first lightly drawing in pencil where the different clolours were going to go. Then I put the paint on it, I had one half brown, the other dark green and the green side has a gold patch around the eye. Then I stuck everything on, I put some cane coming out of the back ontop, I had three fakepink flowers (which is not my favourite colour) with little silver balls in them. I also put on the green side bits of bark, a pipe cleaner twirled around on the bottom, on the brown side I put some interesting textured green paper and another twirled up pipe cleaner and the last thing I put on was some scrunched up celophane where the cane was. Sadly, the lady from maskworks didn't like the flowers or the celophane so I had take them of, so I put some more cane, more bark and more green paper. >:-(
Some things I is that lots of people brang in lots of stuff so there was lots of things to choose from and that my mum was there. I think that it was hard to glue things on with the hot glue gun like the celophane took ages to glue on then I had to take it off and also the cane kept on snapping. I learnt that if you want to have something on your mask make sure that it has something to do with the topic and if you put something on, make sure that there is something alse on the mask that colour or a similar colour.

Today all the enviroferns at school went to a farm to do trees for survival. If you do not now what trees for survival is, I will tell you now. It is when you plant trees on the river bank to stop the loose soil from falling into the water and making it all durty. So if there are trees in the ground the soil will stay in place. It took about 1.30 hous to get there and when we got there
